One of the lessons I learned as a child, because we moved a lot, is to keep necessary items to a minimum (pack light). Another suggestion is to do what many financial investors do and that is to spread your work over a number of places so in an event of loss, you won't lose everything. I'd still have the same content and would still be at the same URL. In that scenario, at least I wouldn't have to start from scratch.
