The State of the Shawn Address
First off – how creepy is this picture? All the credit goes to FaceInHole.com, where you can replace faces in a bunch of different scenarios with your own creepy face. Now, on to the good stuff.
Back in May, I decided to strike out on my own with Socialust Creative. The job market certainly had a lot to do with it, but looking back, I wish I’d done it sooner. I’ve had a lot of steady work over the past few months and have built up some great relationships with great people. One of those people, Amit Bakshi, helped me land a part-time gig with his company, oDesk.
Because of that position, the time I’ve had for client work has essentially been cut in half… and in about a week, I’m going to lose even more of that time.
Starting Wednesday, I’ll step into a marketing/pr role for a small startup called taketake. I’m extremely excited about taketake’s potential and hope to help out as much as I can. During the next few weeks I’ll be wrapping up my client work and will only accept new clients in very special circumstances (i.e., if the price is right).
But that’s not all.
I don’t want to say too much and give anything away, so I’ll be very vague. I have a team working on an application that I’ve wanted for myself for a while. This app will be web-based and will also have an iPhone version. I don’t have a potential price point or release date yet – I’ll have a better idea about those in the near future. I will say this – I’m pumped.
So there you have it. My foreseeable future consists of oDesk, taketake and my uber-secret mystery project. Combining the three will eat up most of, if not all my free time (sorry friends), but it’s okay – at this point, I’m doing exactly what I want to do. The State of the Shawn is sound, good citizens.
Good night, and God bless the interwebz.
